Lars - what version are you using? Is it a recent one? (2.1.15 or
later?). Segfault during malloc usually means one of two things:

1) a bug in libc (what OS is this? Some red hat linuxes have old libs
with problems)

2) a bug in the program somewhere else entirely which is hard to find.

Can you provide more info?
