With my extensions (ilyaz.org/software/emacs) this behaviour is
available on ( and ) [you need to pick up the correct one depending on
which end of the region you are].  Likewise for [] and {}.  qLemme see...  The 
file name is elec-par.el.

This also comes standard with CPerl (with electric parens enabled).
