Thanks to all who answered my question :)

I eventually chose the "single makefile" solution, which is a mix of what Chris and Andy proposed. So I have my GNUmakefile that has Piranhas_INCLUDE_DIRS = -I., which also includes all my sources files, and that includes the postamble that creates the source tree in the obj dir.

BTW, I use threads in my program and I get this output:
2002-11-11 23:52:06.181 Piranhas[619] Unable to detach thread (unknown error)

Is it possible that gnustep-base is compiled without pthreads ?
