I am one such user, and I use Ubuntu because it's a coherent system that
has decent usability. I recommend the same setup to everyone I provide
support for.

Debian isn't interesting to me because it seems too unwilling to make
decisions for users. Ubuntu preserves the ability of users to make
decisions for themselves, but sets sane defaults that reduce
dissatisfaction related to making choices (this is a well-studied
phenomena in psychology and one that all free software projects would do
well to heed).

Further, in future releases of Ubuntu, installing linux-libre won't be
necessary, since the free variant of linux will be inherited from
Debian.
