A quick solution has been offered here:

sudo apt-get remove unity-lens-shopping


Still, it does not resolve the ethical problem related to the notion of Free Software, badly interpreted by Canonical.

Exactly.

Also, as long as we're naming and shaming Ubuntu, is Skype and Ekiga
still both described in the Ubuntu Software Centre as "Free"? If so,
this is a huge problem.

Libre and gratis has to be differentiated.
