I agree we should change the configurations not to use xv. We should
also make sure that every non-standard program or library has a reference
to an authority location for a package. For instance, we could refer folk
to xli instead of xv - and point folk to <URL:ftp://ftp.x.org/contrib/>
to find it. WAIS, ncurses and slang already have pointers.
Now, I know that there's a thing of going too far, but _for the
novice_, it might help to provide pointers to gzip, zip, SOCKS, GNU
make, tn3270, and possibly pointers to news software like inews.
