This is one problem that has gotten me baffled.
I have two machines. A linux server, running as my NAT/ipmasq/gateway between the internet and my LAN, as well as other services (samba, dns, mail, etc). It is on 24/7. Redhat 7.1

I now have a linux desktop (client) machine which I use most of the time and on when I'm using it. On maybe 8 hours a day. Running debian testing or "sarge".

I can open the ports on the firewall and route/tunnel the traffic to the desktop machine and mldonkey runs perfectly. Now if I run it on the server, it freeze and eventually crashes. If I try and telnet/lynx into any of the ports (specifically the web port), the "connects" but then just sits there and often requires a "kill -9" to exit the program (or close down mldonkey itself).

Both are running 2.02 stable binary release.

I've tried both static and shared. Even tried taring up the mldonkey directory on the desktop and untaring it back onto the server. Get the same problem every time.

One though could be the firewall but I doubt it. I can connect fine using the desktop and on the server, when I telnet/lynx in I still get an "connection accepted" which means it has bound to the port. So it shouldn't be a problem..

Anyone got any ideas?
thanks,
Ian
