Follow-up Comment #15, bug #57083 (project octave): @Philip: Attached is a dynamically loadable version of that function that you can build with mkoctfile is_same_file.cc No need to do a complete cross build. @all: I don't know the reasons why the 8.3 paths are used. But maybe they have become obsolete? Octave core now can handle paths with spaces and non-ASCII characters on Windows generally. However, there might still be some places where paths aren't correctly quoted or as such...
