Follow-up Comment #6, bug #57388 (project octave):

The contour legend key could also be improved.  In Matlab, the contours are
shown as ellipses and there are 3 of them for the smallest, median, and
largest values of the colormap.

It isn't required to make the shape an ellipse, although it would be nice, or
to have 3 values, although that too would be nice.  Rather, the biggest
concern is that the contours touch which makes it hard to read.
