looking at
https://www.gnu.org/software/texinfo/manual/texinfo/html_node/Cross-Reference-Parts.html

it gave a suggestion to suppress that comma. pushed as 
https://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/69f1135e44d2

will look at the general layout some more tonight.

separately in the built grammar.texi I noticed that when expanding persistent
(line 132 currently) it grabs the comments for properties too.  don't know how
those macros work, should there be whitespace separators in
