Follow-up Comment #45, bug #65431 (group octave):

All patch properties need to stay consistent at all time.
It might be that duplication might not be needed in some cases and a more
sophisticated algorithm might be able to reduce the duplication. But as long
as the patch properties stay consistent, I wouldn't consider this a bug.
If someone would like to work on a changed implementation that reduces the
duplication, they are welcome to do that. But that should be done in a
different report.
