Nah, that's probably not necessary.

If you grep ~/.pan/config.xml for "use_custom_fonts", what shows up?
If something like this appears:

        <value key="use_custom_fonts" type="b">1</value>

Change it to this:

        <value key="use_custom_fonts" type="b">0</value>

And see if that helps...
