I've seen images with that type as well.  It annoyed me enough to fix
the problem.  I put an enhancement request along with a patch on
bugzilla.  The patch will display images with a content type of
application/octet-stream.  It also displays a message regarding any
attachments that can't be displayed such as zip files.
