Follow-up Comment #3, bug #56724 (project reproduce): Sorry, I can't reproduce the bug myself, so I'm afraid I have to leave testing of this to others. One of the URLS in my first post below is https://lists.debian.org/debian-science/2015/10/msg00032.html which cites Johannes Ring who proposed adding export OMPI_MCA_plm_rsh_agent=/bin/false in debian/rules. We can of course do it in an appropriate make script.
