I wrote and I have something to add:

In fact being "offline" is itself something that will slowly
become less and less likely to happen in future. Portable
devices will become more and more capable of dealing with
the full digital social experience 24/7 and personal computing
will mean connecting your laptop to your communication device
in order for your laptop to be able to give you a better
access to the data you already have.

Expect full hard disk encryption on your smart phone.
Expect your free software empowered smart phone to be the only
place where you keep your private keys. One day.

What I really wanted to say is, we don't need to optimize
for people being offline. We don't need server based thinking
of the past.
