Still doesn't really look right because my terminals have black
backgrounds too.

There's not an option to turn borders off entirely in tile groups
because if the window doesn't fill the frame you have to have
*something* in the surrounding space.

I don't think it's that bloated, because the colours serve different
purposes.  In tile groups the borders are purely decorative; in float
groups they're controls that you use to move and resize the windows.
