I have an Aspell 0.60-aware pt_BR dictionary right now in my HDD, as
well as an shell script to automate it. The problem is: every time
there is an error converting from Myspell/Hunspell (AFAIK we are not
using the extensions yet) I have to mail the "real" dict mantainer and
ask him to fix it.

Besides, the Aspell package also includes pt_PT, and I don't know how
to deal with that yet.

Ricardo Ueda, former Aspell and Ispell dicts maintainer for pt_BR, is
unreachable by e-mail and that's the main reason why I'm volunteering.
His web page was last modified 3 years ago, and there is some "beta"
version of the Ispell dict which is was never released.

The project page as well as the tarballs are hosted at an university
domain; I have never heard of sf.net being involved and have just
looked for the project there and couldn't find it.

I'm not thinking of using his "spoil" because OOo already did it, so
it seems to be all about converting from OOo and pointing people to
contribute word to Myspell/Hunspell first.

If you need someone else to confirm Ricardo Ueda is unreachable, you
can e-mail him (address@hidden) or Raimundo Moura
(address@hidden), the maintainer of pt_BR OOo
spellchecker. The br.ispell and aspell page is/was
http://www.ime.usp.br/~ueda/br.ispell/.

I'll read the documentation as soon as I can. Should I host the files
somewhere else, or may I send them directly to the GNU Aspell project?

It's delightful that you're willing to help out, Leonardo!

If you've already got dictionaries from OpenOffice, they are formatted for
HunSpell. I bet you can find automatic converters between them.

As to procedure, you should first see if you can contact the person listed
as the owner now. He or she might have a repository (like on SourceForge)
where you should put your updated sources.

The technical details of making a list are described here:
