I'm sorry it's too late but I finally tested them and the resuls are
The first case:
- with ncurses 4.2
Have problem
- with regular Slang 1.4.0
Have problem
- with Slang 1.4.0 with SLANG_HAS_KANJI_SUPPORT
No problem
The second case:
- with ncurses 4.2
No problem
- with regular Slang 1.4.0
Have problem
- with Slang 1.4.0 with SLANG_HAS_KANJI_SUPPORT

# All tests are done with Lynx2-8-4dev.4 with NLS.
It seems Lynx2-8-4dev.4 has some problems showing multibyte
characters. Thanks for your reporting. These problems will never be
found by me because I usually use Slang with SLANG_HAS_KANJI_SUPPORT.
