Yes I know it's crap but it's the only browser I've got apart from Lynx...

I'm not sure why you think "dead" is the opposite of "maintained":
not everyone has the latest and greatest version of everything.  [In
fact, virus writers rely on the fact that most people still have the
original, unpatched, Outlook Express even though Microsoft released
security patches for it a long time ago.]
