It's a simple question of what's going to get done and what isn't.  How
long have we been talking about the big magical patch repository site
that will cure all ills?  Noone's about to make it anytime soon.

Anyway, I can add client support with easy uploading/downloading to
numerous repos (which are just directories) just as easily as for a
single site.

Either way, even if there was a centralised site, patch URIs and a user
patch path is still a good idea.
