Oh, so just a string. I did not expect that to be a problem; I assumed
you were trying something complicated.

John, when I navigate to the Variable View sheet in the Data Editor
and click on a Name cell and try to enter a new name, I can't get
Paste to work at all, whether the name is blank or whether I've
already typed a few characters, regardless of whether I use Ctrl+V or
Edit|Paste. Is something wrong here? I do see Paste working OK in the
Data View.
