Try:
* loading the clipboard with some text
* navigate to the name cell in variable view.
* Right Click, and observe the popup menu which appears
* Select "Paste" from the popup menu.
* The text should appear in the GtkEntry's buffer.
* Hit Enter.
* (Here is the caveat) IF the text is a valid variable name in the dictionary, 
then
  a new variable will appear with that name.
  OTHERWISE a new variable with a defalt name ("Var000n") will appear.
