Thanks for carrying on the torch!

No problem. I will be happy to help you there.
I would like to upgrade the autoconf and automake files to make them
compatible with more recent versions of the autotools. I did this
already,
but then downgraded again as Bill was still working with the now
somewhat
outdated autoconf 2.13 and automake 1.4. You can find some outcommented
lines in configure.in for autoconf 2.5x.

My participation arose from porting to cgoban to cygwin. It
is available there as a standard package. autotooling the package
made packaging for cygwin a lot easier as cygwin has some tools
to assist in package that assume an autotooled distribution.

My interest in cgoban is there because it provides a good GUI
to the Gnu Go program (www.fsf.org/software/gnugo) which I help
developing a bit
from time to time. In that respect I am happy with cgoban as it
currently is.

Gnu Go has a list at mail.gnu.org. This was mirrored for some time
at www.gmane.org. I liked this combination a lot.

I cc-ed the Gnu Go devel list as some people there may have some good
ideas.

regards,

looking forward to a new period of progress for cgoban1,
