Cool, glad to hear CGoban 1 is getting maintained.

Also, cgoban seems to be omitting the ; before comments sometimes.  I'm
not entirely clear on what is going wrong, but the sgf check program
complains (also the joseki compiler).  Attached is a version of komoku.sgf
I've been working on, as saved by cgoban, with the error.  SGF Checker is
linked from the main GNU Go page.

So, sgf verification and hopefully correcting would be a definite plus.
