We have added the below question to the FAQ. Let us know if it wrong:
Q. Which criteria is applied to classify a program, language,
protocol, specification, etc. as Free or Non-Free Software?
A. For a program, follow the Free Software link to know the criterion.
For development languages, protocols, specifications, etc. the
meaningful question is whether it is supported by Free Software.
Can you use it with Free Software exclusively?
