When clicking on the GNUmed icon on the KDE desktop, GNUmed is started by user 
knoppix. Therefore /ramdisk/home/knoppix/.gnumed/gnumed.conf is used and the 
logfile is created in /ramdisk/home/knoppix/.gnumed/

Please check it out and report any problems. I don't think it is broken.
