The card says it is a Venus, not uBlox. How well does gpsd work with Venus
chips? Do you or Eric have one to experiment with?

I don't understand that part.

I have a hack logging things. It's getting 7 sentences each second. The
average length is 65 bytes. That would be 7*65*10 bits each second. That's
4550 bits. So it should fit.

Here is a typical second:
58002 16436.094 77 $GPGGA,043355.828,3726.0852,N,12212.2655,W,1,10,0.9,35.7,M,
-32.2,M,,0000*56
58002 16436.164 59 $GPGSA,A,3,11,23,03,25,31,01,32,14,22,26,,,1.6,0.9,1.3*38
58002 16436.245 70 $GPGSV,3,1,12,22,73,322,39,31,58,062,37,01,51,242,33,03,47,
316,36*7A
58002 16436.326 70 $GPGSV,3,2,12,14,35,057,32,23,27,270,31,11,25,226,22,32,19,
067,19*79
58002 16436.403 66 $GPGSV,3,3,12,26,19,132,19,25,06,039,18,16,03,156,,10,00,12
4,*7C
58002 16436.487 72 $GPRMC,043355.828,A,3726.0852,N,12212.2655,W,000.0,331.2,06
0917,,,A*79
58002 16436.534 40 $GPVTG,331.2,T,,M,000.0,N,000.0,K,A*0E

Line wrap will mess things up. Lines should start with 58002.
Second word is seconds this day after readline returns.
