OK, it was built from the GIT on May 31, so I'm a little surprised

Usually more, but we are in a pre-release "quiet" period..

I can test that 831 version tomorrow.

A release is pretty soon, so sooner rather than later.  I'll not hold
up a release on this.

Not being very well up on Linux, how would I rebuild a newer version?

Yup.  If you have 831, you already did it, just "git pull" and rebuild.

Unfortunately when I checked I realised that the RPi with the GIT 831 version isn't the one with the raw-capable GPS, so it would involve some hardware changes to make that test. Perhaps with the raw I sent we can make some progress? Making the hardware change can be done if necessary.
