so for one urn-5 there can be several datablocks? (pools/spans/what?)
sorry again, am quite tired and should be leaving already so only glimpsed
this through for now.

anyhow, for the particular resource, couldn't these versions be typed,
marked somehow .. and the resource itself so that the appropriate one can
be inferred, under certain restrictions.

e.g. the official version for a resource may be set to be the one
published by a certain author/party, (or) a key. and the user may set that
(s)he prefers the official, or some other, version for that particular
resource.

right? probably you knew all this but just to continue on..
