I guess your not targetting this at Emre/me?  I was just telling Emre
that the very name of the variable `display-time-mail-string' was what
I was looking for.

Very true. Add a source (if possible the e-mail address of the person
who pointed to the code) and some kind of rationale for every piece of
code you insert in your startup file. Wise advice.
