Thanks Rainer. Could you post your gnus settings? I am failing to configure it 
to NOT download mail, just read it from a file locally. I hope to make 
Thunderbird my "offlineimap" - possibly I can automate some processing on 
Thunderbird's data to make it compatible with gnus / mh-e / rmail etc.
