WHAT??!! -- ok, i'm over-reacting etc: TD is our current hero after all --
BUT: if i understand this correctly -- hopefully i'm mistaken -- ,
it is now (2-8) the case that
(1)  configure  is the only supported method of compiling Lynx &
(2) it does not allow users to specify at compile time
    where they want  lynx.cfg  to be found:
    ie if they don't follow the party line,
    they have to rely on  LYNX_CFG  or  -cfg  to define it at run time.

like, WHY?  &, like, who ever agreed to such a change?
&, like, who ever even announced such a change?

ok, i misunderstood, that's not what has happened, enlighten me (smile).
