I got the same error as well, though it only occurred once.  Subsequent 
reboots and shutdown did not exhibit this symptom.  I do wonder why it 
happened, though.  Is /usr mounted under /dev/sda3?  The only thing that 
might be needed under /usr are the nss* libraries, though at the point
where all disks are unmounted, there shouldn't be anything that needs
those libraries -- at least, I don't think.
