Would it not be possible to allow machines to pass a sort of 'user interface
layout' file to Octal that would explain to Octal how the machine wanted the
widgets layed out and possibly other stuff to embelesh the Machines UI, and
Octal could do exactly what was in the lay out file, or ignore it completely or
any thing inbetween depending on the situation?
In that way, the machines could differentiate them selves with thier User
interface (so you would know if you were useing Bob's Flanger or Tonm's Flanger
because of the UI. Bob and Tom would probably like that.) and Octal could
ignor that, completly or partial, if need for what ever Octal was doing at that
time, like docking machine controls or creating custom copntrol pannel that
looks like your MIDI controler, (So like you have a MIDI controler with a few
knobs, on screen you have a few knobs in the same arangment an the first knob
on sceen, and on the MIDI controler contrrols the Rate
on Bob's Flanger, and the second knob on screen and on the contoler controls
the Rate on Tom's Flanger, and the third one control's the depth for Ed's Delay
Unit). That would be kind of neat if you were useing a MIDI controler to
modify paramiters in real time, but Octol would need to be in control of the
widgets and thier layout ...
These all might be things that could wait until version 1.5 or 2.0 ...
