Is there any resolution for Mac developers?

Is there a way to get the write linker flags through the autoconf, bootstrap
mechanism?

Or should we just document that Mac developers need to add these flags?

Or should we unconditionally add these to the linker flags when building on
Mac?

Those seem like the three viable options at the moment.
