Follow-up Comment #14, bug #57049 (project octave):
I'm still looking in to it. I believe the first option - getting the flags
through autoconf, bootstrap - is feasible; I just haven't figured out how yet.
The issue does seem to be Homebrew-specific - my non-brew builds are still
working. Just haven't found time to do the debugging yet.
