I cleaned up the patches and pushed them to the default branch here:

Marking as ready for test (in the cleaned-up state).

I still don't know why that would have led to a crash though. Maybe that was
something different?
Might be a good idea to have an eye on that. Please, open a new report if you
can reproduce the crash.
