I would prefer you have these added.  Thanks.  

length=numel(faces), <== if user input is face/vertex

or size=size(xdata) <== if user input is xyz_data

I'm mostly concerned that setting cdata changes vertices. That shouldn't
happen.   <== this is a bug.  if the issue is within Octave, you can fix it. 
If the issue is from 3rd party, it needs to be overwritten.
