Congratulations -- twice :)

1) I forgot to edit configure.in to accept an old version of gnutls, and
   there was no error message for me to notice.

2) Header compression is now working.

However, I'm still getting this compile error:
pan/general/locking.h:50: undefined reference to `pan::Mutex::mutex'

I compiled it by tricking the compiler into accepting the deprecated code
in /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/deprecated/gthread.h, which for some reason
breaks decoding of jpegs.

Getting very close now, thanks :)
