I doubt it will be possible to reach a resolution to this matter until
some people stop worshipping at the altar of Debian. Setting aside all
other considerations, the Debian distribution, like any other
distribution, is the creation and work of human beings, who just like
any other human beings are fallible.

But there seems to be a determination to elevate Debian developers to
god-like status, to accept their pronouncements as divine even when
their only resemblance to scriptural deities is in their arbitrariness
and capriciousness, and to place them beyond any challenge.

This attitude is simply not an intellectually honest position. And
those who advocate it should be dismissed as false priests.
