One suggestion for a speaker might be someone, to be determined, to speak
about the "crowdsourcing" phenomenon - an applied swarm-like model of
complex adaptive systems integrating internet-work powers with productive
outcomes.

For your consideration and feedback:

Perhaps the founder of Innocentive, Alpheus Bingham. InnoCentive was formed
out of discussions at a SFI lecture in 2000/2001. Maybe some of you know
Alpheus from his SFI interactions...I do not (Roger? SFI BizNet?).

My recent column on the basics of the phenomenon, with some embedded links:

We might be able to get Jeff Howe, the Wired magazine reporter who coined
the word "crowdsourcing" to describe the phenomena.

Howe's blog:

"Assignment Zero, as my regular readers will probably know, is the
NYU/Wired.com journalism experiment I'm working on. The idea is to use the
crowd to research crowdsourcing. We're about halfway through the project,
and couldn't be happier about our progress. Some 900 contributors and 30
professional jounalists have begun work on the roughly 200 assignment (go
here for a full list). http://zero.newassignment.net/

I am an active crowdsourced "experimental" reporter/writer for Assignment
Zero and can try to get Jeff Howe...if the interest is there. Such a coup
may help advance the Swarm-based CAS world in the Wired mag sort of way...
