Special moves or fighting feats temporarily affect the stats. For
example the "hard hit" would increase the strength (while possibly
lowering dexterity) etc. Minor moves/feats might only cause improvement
relative to the character's stat, whereas Majpr ones might set the stat
to an (exceptional) value, independent of the character's stat.

That's all, but I thought I better mention this too.
