Sometime Today, Colin Leroy assembled some asciibets to say:

Well, I wouldn't go that far.  I would say that I like C a lot more than
I like C++, and that well written C code can match C++ code.  The
problem we have to deal with are that not too much of the code is well
written.  Memory management and data encapsulation in the current system
is a nightmare.  C++ could make that simpler.

Another thing that could be done is a base class for services and 
filters that others just need to implement.
