Personally that convinces me. SF is usually fine, but if there's 
a small problem (e.g. some spam gets through their system but is 
specific to our list) it will be a pain to move the juggernaut, 
while you offer good active support.

For the question of not being dependent on a single person:
Could you setup the list in a way that the list archives 
are available in say a regular tar.gz so that backups of the 
list archive are available (e.g. we could have a cron at 
sourceforge that grabs them regularly). That way backup 
archives will be available, and the list itself can easily 
be moved again, if Greg cannot support it anymore in the 
future.
