Re: lynx-dev screen widths

thanx everyone who responded to my questions about screen widths,
something not previously explored on lynx-dev IIRC.
there seem to be  2  results, but little consensus.

(1)  5  people regularly use a display  > 79 columns :
     3  express strong feelings that their freedom is at stake
    if someone cuts line off short of a paragraph end,
     2  of whom know Lynx too well to consult documentation frequently;
     2  don't seem to have strong feeling about it.
    only  1  uses a window of  45 - 50 columns  for documentation,
    tho' not frequently for Lynx.
     1  hardly ever uses displays  <> 79 columns ;
    presumably, most other users don't either.

    as i said originally, i'm not going to pursue an argument
    about using <br> or <pre> to lay out documentation neatly;
    insofar as users may be using displays  <> 79 columns ,
    it is clearly impossible to make things neat for everyone.

(2)  2  people agree with me that using only  70  of  79 columns is wasteful
    & should be configurable;
     2  perhaps agree, but hold that it belongs in a style-sheet,
    for which of course we may have to wait rather a long time;
     1  argues that the long-standing Lynx layout in fact has a pattern,
    if only people notice it (documentation would help here too).

    in the absence of style-sheets in the near future,
    i'ld say L/R columns in the screen display should be configurable
    via an Option, but of course someone has to do the coding (BL?).
