If you change a single face it doesn't improve anything. The whole thing
is the important. The overall result after all the changes. A light
toolbar looks worst with a dark background as well; big icons looks
terrible with small fonts.
I realise that, but could you give concrete changs that were made? It
seemed that it was relativley small changes (some color changes that
made emacs modern), so what changes are you talking about exactly?
The default spaceemacs link shows a black background, is that it? I
don't see anything that is very different with regard to fonts, and
colors. Can you point those changes out?

There are loads of random changes there to the default Emacs, I do not
know which one you are refering to. What am I supposed to look at?
