Yes, both the newer tests, and the work toward fixing them, were left
out of the 'stable' branch when it was 'frozen' -- i.e. only bug fix
changes allowed.  Of course the ansi issues are bugs, but ansi is
a 'new feature' to gcl :-).  The code in 2.7.0 is significantly more
ansi compliant.  Perhaps the major reason I have for trying to make
2.6.2 last a long time is my desire to forget about it and turn my
attention toward finishing the ansi work in 2.7.x. 2.6.2 will
nevertheless be a solid platform for the major open source lisp
applications which are largely still cltl1 based.
