Well, so you have to make sure that whoever it wants to read he is able to read

It is a known fact that Word HTML export is crap.

Well, I just use a simple text editor but I guess your favourite distribution
has a plenty of HTML-editors. So I can't comment on it, but I see the following
options (there are definitely more of them):
bluefish
peacock
mozilla composer
...
