This is excellent news.

This is quite precisely what we need for AU purposes.
Nevertheless we will have to be able to interface German
databases, too, so the previously discussed push-to-jump
interface is still "needed".

No one ever thought any differently.

It is and we should surely progress on using that offer.
Whether inclusion should be slated for 0.1 or for 0.1.x is
another matter.

BTW, are we free to use the *data* they provide in *our*
structure - eg can we import the data into drugref ?

Agree. My suggestion would be to

1) develop your mini full PI browser based directly on the MIMS schema
2) interface Hilmar's browser via a "driver" to that structure
3) incorporate MIMS data into drugref and interface MIMS *data* in drugref

Basically we will always have two different types of drug data
sources: Companies such as MIMS that give us access to their
*data* - which we can then tightly integrate into GnuMed as we
see fit. And companies which "allow" us to interface with the
API of their own proprietary browser for their drug data. The
latter is also needed here in DE since there is a bunch of
drug DBs who will not give us the data directly any close-by
day.

I think, however, for the initial release we are perfectly
fine with interfacing MIMS (even directly) so we can
demonstrate what we intend to do. The next steps would then be
to make access to that data technically generic (Hilmar already
did most of that) while still only interfacing MIMS as the
only source. And then "plug in" other databases, starting with
MIMS data inside drugref.

Does that sound like a plan ? Now we only need people to do it ;-)

We should certainly put up a copy of that mail on the Wiki
under "3rd party licensing" if Margaret agrees.
