After on-going liason with Margaret Pritchard in MIMS, they have agreed to
allow us to use the data-structure of the MIMS annual plus an ongoing supply
of at least 6 month old data (minus the jpgs of all the pills) for
development and demonstration purposes.

In effect we can freely put the data onto our site for downloading as long as
it is the 6 months old.

Obviously any resultant MIMS browser used in production desktop needing the
uptodate data would have to be paid for by users (which of course they
currently do in AU anyway).

I think this is a significant concession from the company.

AU users may or may not be aware, I'm sure Horst is, that work on the AMT
stuff previuosly mentioned on the list, is still progressing - translate
this as au national formulary drug database stuff which will be funded by
the federal govt - but probably 12 months off coming to fruition. Mims will
continue to be involved with this, and will continue their ongoing work in
developing decision support stuff as well.

My feeling is that getting the MIMS annual data is good, and that we should
re-develop the mini full PI browser that I developed several years ago. I
would still have the import scripts somewhere on my file server which
imported the data into postgresql, and my memories of the code to generate
the HTML for the browser is that it was only about 20-30 lines.

Ian, as you are in AU or Syan perhaps you could liase with me on this.
Regards

Richard

Hi Richard
I've discussed our phone conversation with Anna Mickell and we don't see
that there would be an issue with what we discussed.

We can provide the data structure for the MIMS Full prescribing
information and 6 month old data, excluding the product images for use
in the Open Source GNUMED project. This is on the understanding that if
acceptable then the use of the current data would only be used on a paid
basis.

Regards,

Margaret
